Out on a Limb

As you’ve probably noticed, I have a deep appreciation for capturing close-up, intimate portraits of wildlife. But I also find great value in stepping back and photographing my subjects within the broader context of their natural surroundings. These wider perspectives help tell a more complete story—showing not just the animal, but the environment it calls home. I captured this image of a great gray owl perched at the edge of a small meadow, scanning for prey near the forest where it lives and hunts. It’s a quiet moment that reflects both the beauty of the owl and the landscape it’s so perfectly adapted to.
